Tag It!End of Long Weekend So the long weekend came and went. A bit too fast. But like they always say. "Time flies when you're having fun". I hate Mondays. Lousy Experience@Cafe Cartel Decided to bring my parents to the Cafe Cartel at Plaza Singapura to try their breakfast. So, we all got up early and did our things before setting out at around 10:20am. Reached Cafe Cartel and was surprised at the amount of people already there. Thought there would be nobody. It was so busy that there wasn't a staff in sight to attend to us. I looked at the manager at the cashier and he told me that we can just go in and sit anywhere. Okay. Fine. We took our seats and passed our orders to a waiter ater browsing the menu. All breakfast orders come with free flow bread and a choice of coffee or tea. So we all took tea. Then we waited. My parents wanted bread but there wasn't any left. We asked a waitress and she said there would be more bread in 15 minutes' time. That was at 10:45am. The bread was not refilled after more than half an hour. When the bread did come out of the kitchen, there were only 3 pathetic loaves! Then I rushed to queue up and get some bread for my parents. Luckily I did get some bread but the poor girl at the end of the queue got nothing. She left the queue with a deeply disappointed look. Kind of felt bad for her too. Then, at 11:15am, a couple came in, sat down and placed their orders. Within 10 minutes, they got their coffees and meals and were busy tucking in. I was actually staring in disbelief. How come they came in later than us but they got their food first? My parents and I have not even gotten our teas! Then one of the waitresses came to us and asked us if we had any other last orders for breakfast. I ji tao shoot her loh. Then she looked startled and went to look into it. Still no tea. Still no sign off our breakfast. When the breakfast did come, it was pure rubbish. Cold eggs. Cold bacon. Cold pancakes that were horrible. Even McDonald's can do a better job of making pancakes than Cafe Cartel! So disappointing that I had to treat my parents to a lousy breakfast experience this morning. Shall make it up to them another time. Swenson's, here we come! Thanks ah. =p Another Win! Woot~ This Morning... Just woke up this morning and had 8 matches of Street Fighter IV online. 3 wins and 5 losses. Sucks. Note to self: playing SFIV immediately after waking up is not very good. Skype...WTF Skype is pure rubbish. 'Nuff said. NBA Live 10
Ordered it online from Qisahn last Friday for a cool price of $62! It arrived in the mailbox on Tuesday. Been playing it ever since. When I first loaded up the game on my PS3, it prompted to create a save data file. So, I just selected OK and it took about 5 minutes to actually create one. Wonder what the game created that needed that much time. So, while waiting, I looked through the game case and saw a card containing the redemption code for something called Dynamic DNA. It basically allows your game to connect to some online service that automatically updates your game with the latest player, team and season stats from the real NBA. Cool right? So, the save game data file was finally created and the game started. Graphics were what I expected from a PS3 game. From the sweat flowing down the faces of your players, to the cheerleaders and spectators in the stands, everything almost looks like you are watching a live NBA match on the TV. Even when the camera zooms in up close on the players, the quality of the player models and textures is astoundingly realistic. Gameplay can be quite a challenge. You use the left analog stick to move your selected player around the court. During the match, you have tons of buttons to press. Press and hold R2 to activate turbo so that your player sprints though it does not really feel that fast. Right analog stick controls the dribbling and what ever stunts or special moves you want your selected player to do during offense and defense. Pressing and holding L1 brings up the Quick Plays menu where you can call out specific plays to the whole team on both offense and defense. It took me about one hour to finally get the hang of some of them. Now I am calling Quick Plays and strategies on the fly. The only thing that still eludes me is making my selected player do spectacular moves that leaves defenders far behind or getting them away from my other players so that I can set them up for a clear shot at the basket. Probably because I did not tweak the difficulty setting which is set to Pro by default. Think that is the highest setting. When the basketball is flying out of the court, players near the out of bounds area will attempt to save it. That is a new feature for the NBA Live series. So, why then are players unable to attempt to save a stray basketball when it is going out of bounds and your players are further away? I noticed that on many an occassion, ALL players on the court will not even bother to save the ball. Not once. They just simply look at the ball bounce away towards the out of bounds line and WALK very slowly in that direction! How silly is that? In a real NBA match, every ball is crucial and they would at least chase after the ball. Overall, the game is pretty entertaining. It should be even more entertaining when you play with another human player. I should know since I played with a colleague but on the XBox 360 version. NBA Live 10...hmm...gets 8 out of 10 from me.
